#2 Favorite Band of All Time
The Band
My friends and I have often asked each other the following question:
If you could go back in time and go to any concert.  Ever.  What would it be?
My answer, without hesitation, is The Last Waltz.  If you don’t know what I’m speaking of then, frankly, I feel sorry for you.  The Last Waltz occurred on November 25, 1976. Thanksgiving Day.  Initially, it was advertised as The Band’s last concert.  Naturally, that wasn’t the case.  But it was their last amazing concert.  And possibly one of the best concerts ever.  The concert was filmed by Martin Scorsese.  So if you are intrigued, you can probably find the DVD on Amazon for three bucks.
All that being said, The Band was and is so much more than this one concert.  They made music that was simply breathtaking.  While Robbie Robertson gets so much love for being the leader of the band, Levon Helm [drummer] is the true leader of the group.  He kills the drums, obviously.  But his voice is superb.  Often, I look forward to Robbie Robertson shutting his mouth and letting Helm crush the vocals for a while.
Many of my close friends are probably baffled right now.  I’ve kind of put it all on the table right now.  The four bands that I put on this list so far are the bands that I constantly talk about and listen to.  However, there’s one band left.  And it’s a band that influences all of my listening habits.  It’s a band that I compare every new band to.  And it’s going to be a surprise.  Get ready.

I have been silently watching this blog for a bit now and loving just about everything. Yay Raleigh, go Heels, lawyer rich = ambition, etc. But this, this is such a major win. The Last Waltz album was my high school soundtrack. There are too few people this generation who appreciate that who’s who of awesome show.
